Caroline’s Book Club

This title alone is convicting:

As an Enneagram 3, one who daily challenges themselves on getting as much done as possible, this book presents a radically different mindset. Comer reminds us throughout the book that Jesus was never in a hurry. I had never thought of that. If my God, the creator of the entire universe didn’t live His life in a hurry, I probably shouldn’t either. A powerful thought, a powerful book. I look forward to reading it over and over again.

I love Bob Goff:

And I’m certainly not the only one in his fan club. His books Love Does, Everybody Always, and Dream Big are all fabulous. They are ALL must reads. For starters, you just have to hear Bob talk about his life to even believe it. It’s pretty crazy. He lives life differently than I do. But I want to live more like Bob. We believe in the same things, the same God, the same Bible. But Bob lives love out with an abandonment that is exciting, empowering, and humbling. I also appreciate that I can recommend this book to anyone who is searching for answers about life or love or just dreaming big. Bob is a fantastic storyteller. Read these books, and then give them to some friends. By doing so you will be pointing them to the ultimate picture of love, Jesus.

When I first heard about this book I was skeptical:

I knew how to pray I thought, what’s the big deal? Well I found out. Paul Miller is able to communicate more about our doubts, our fears and our beliefs than any other author I have encountered. He exposes something in me that I need to revisit again and again. A candid and vulnerable look into his life, he tenderly walks us through the steps to pray like a child. He asks tough questions, and with great vulnerability admits his own reluctance to come to God our father like a child. Stories of him and his wife raising Kim, their special needs child, gives the reader beautiful pictures of surrender and faith. This book stays on my bedside table, in fact it’s time to read it again.
